Limmud-Oz 2015

With their emergence from the ghetto at the beginning of the 19th century, Jews have faced stark choices in matters of identity and their relations with non-Jews. These choices have been most affected by new forms of an old hatred they hoped they had left behind. Holding onto their identity while navigating the modern world has been difficult and at times, almost impossible task. Right now, these difficulties are brought into sharpest focus by the way some Jews respond to the difficulties faced by the Jewish state. This predicament, which I will call the Jewish predicament, should be understood for it may define the future of our people.
