Mel Gibson's film "The Passion of the Christ" confounded numerous critics by becoming one of the most successful films of all time in February 2004. It caused an enormous controversy in the USA, particularly in relation to the film’s antisemitic elements. What were the reasons for the film's success and how did these factors differed in Australia? What is the film’s legacy more than 11 years on, and what does it means for us as Jews?
