Marilyn is on the Executive of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies and serves as the Chair of its Education Committee. She is also a volunteer guide at the Sydney Jewish Museum.  She taught secondary school History and some English for many years, 33 of which was spent on the staff of Moriah College. Besides teaching Jewish History, she served as the Head of the Jewish Studies Department for 12 years. She helped to create curricula for Jewish History (specialising in the Holocaust) and for a senior course in Modern Israel Studies.
